CHAPTER 1

“The life that we live in is just like a book, filled with beautiful moments, dark secrets and bittersweet tragedies. There are chapters that are ravished with happy moments of our life and there are those chapters that bring out the darkness. We want to read the chapters that we love, which let us loose ourselves in the memories that bring smile to our face yet we keep reading those chapters that moisten our eyes.”

A ravishing thirty six years old queen Camilla adjusted her golden locks tied in a high pony tail as her sixteen year old daughter sat beside her and untied her training buckles.

Both mother and daughter were gleaming in the golden sunlight as the drops of sweat rolled all over their bodies. Both were taking deep breaths as they lay their swords down and watched the sun starting to make its way up the mountains, lighting the dawn sky in bright golden orange.

The older woman was already seated on the soft green grass, still wet due to the morning dew.
The younger girl, the queen’s daughter sat beside her, silently watching her mother, still so beautiful even after rigorously training her only daughter. They both watched the huge mirror slowly changing the image in it and taking all the night in. The mirror was always the same. For centuries it had seen all sorts of blood sheds, romantic couples sitting on its bank, but it still was so calm and it was revealing yet mysterious.

“People always try and focus on the bad things Rebekah, but that just keeps us a prisoner of our own mind. The book of our life is desperately waiting for us to write new chapters so that when we die, we should even leave our footprints on the water. But, for that we need to defeat those demons that keep us tied to those dark chapters. If we keep living in our past, we will never complete our book, our book will remain stagnant. That way we will become a real life corpse. We will inhale and exhale, but we will never breathe, the days will pass, but we will never live, we will stretch our lips but we will never smile, nor will we laugh. And then, at the end, when we have come to the end of our time, we will regret that we ruined our perfect fairy tale. We will regret that we were so engrossed in our grief of past that we never became the hero of our stories, we never made our stories unforgettable.”

“Yes mom, I understand, but why are you telling me this right now when we have a war to fight tomorrow?” Rebekah asked her mother with amazement as her mother had never acted so normal especially before the wars.

“I know Rebekah that you are fierce and you have a warrior’s aggression but tomorrow’s war isn’t just any war, today I am going to tell you something which will make things clear for you. I wasn’t like this before you. I love you Rebekah but there is a greater love in this world than the love between you and me. There was someone in my life. Our love was greater than any love in this world.”

“Mom, how do you know that that love was greatest, you cannot just trust anyone.”

“I know that that love was greatest because that love died for me and there is no love on this Earth that is greater than the love which sacrifices itself.”
