IN HAPPINESS SHE DROWNED

She watched her reflection
as if it had been forever,
the reflection smiled back
it felt as if it had been forever.

She got undressed from her skin
which was no longer her own,
it was ruined and burned
with all the efforts of finding her soul.

The fight had been eternal
and pain had been unbearable,
a sixteen year old body and mind
took in cuts and bruises innumerable.

But all had been worthwhile
even the blood that she lost,
for she had won her battle
and like a warrior she fought.

Now she stood at the bank of the same river
which had beheld her every fight,
her childhood had melted here
that flame was no longer bright.

There she stood
so calm and serene,
her naked mind
glowed from within.

Clutching her dreams tight
on her face this time was not a frown,
but with a brilliant smile
she walked in those memories
and finally, in happiness she drowned.
